I just ended a friendship type of affair for good...why do I feel guilty and why would my friend advise for me to tell my husband?

Sometimes I feel really guilty because we have more money than my friends. Until my husband graduated college we were all in the same income bracket. Now it is really awkward when they visit or talk about being so broke. I know this might sound pretentious, but I really don't mean for it to be.
