in addition to earlier post about stretching my money --I only pay for money in whole dollars. If I get change back, it goes into a large piggy bank for a rainy day. that's all I've got for extra. I haven't bought new clothes in years. Everything I have is from goodwill but looks nice. But you know what? I'm happy even though money makes it stressful sometimes. I love my family and we have our needs covered. That's what matters.

A close family member had one of those holier-than-thou attitudes when it came to her lifestyle. She always talked about how smart she was with money and how others should be like her. Then a series of events left her broke. She came to me asking for help. I told her if she had a little more humility, I would do it. I would never try to convince someone who wants kids that they don't want them. Why do people think it's okay to do the opposite? I DON'T want kids for many reasons, just like people WANT kids for many reasons. Not everyone dreams of the family life.

January 2010 I made a goal to prepare my home and family for emergencies by purchasing, storing, and making a list of supplies and essentials. Yes, I lack the self discipline to watch what I eat and excersise regularly. Know what I have the self discipline for? I have the discipline to be an active and attentive parent. I have the discipline to run a clean and well organized and maintained home. I have the discipline to watch what I say to family and friends in order to keep my relationships strong. I have the discipline to work hard at a twenty year marriage. And before all of this I had the discipline to get a Master's degree and have a productive career. I'm sorry to annoy you with my lack of discipline regarding my weight.

Hamburger Helper commercials are kind of sucky. There is no way one box feeds a family or 5 like in the commercials. It's barely enough for my husband and I.
