I recently started working in my daughter's classroom. I don't know how teachers do it. The kids are so smug and defiant. They won't do their homework and THEY WON'T CARE. No consequence gets through to them, and it's almost impossible to motivate them. Very few take any pride in their work. The average test grade is 60%. "What are you going to do about it?" is a common refrain, as is "You can't fail me anyway!" I say, bring back the strap and the cane, and wipe the smirks off these hellions' faces. You couldn't pay me enough to be a teacher.

I'm a dance teacher. It's my second job, along with my full-time job. I'm college educated, and I work my ass off to support my family. I just had knee surgery...many years of dancing has led to injury. I got the bill from my insurance company...the amount that they won't cover is over $10,000. That's more than I made teaching dance in the last YEAR. Unreal. How can ANYBODY support our broken, privatized healthcare system? It financially cripples people. God help me if I ever get cancer or something serious.

DS came home Friday and told me "Mr P (his teacher) is giving out free massage coupons- do you want one?" and I thought he meant his teacher was giving free massages! This is high school,too, BTW. You should have seen the look on my face! *still giggling* It was a fundraiser of some sort, I never did find out the details. LOL!

I am a teacher. I wanted a day off so I called in with the excuse that my DD7 was sick and I needed to stay home with her.

What's the opposite of attachment parenting? Cause I think any parent that loves and spends time with his/her child is in a way attached. I think when it's extreme then it get silly. Yes, I know extremists and their kids are weird. All these my kid was AP and he's so sweet by doing extra sweet stuff for his teacher equals the weird kid in class.

Dr.Sears is full of bullshit. You will NEVER met a happier child than my daughter. That little girl is a complete joy, always happy, always smiling; full of self esteem and confidence in herself. No, it's not only me who says this but her teacher, other school staff, other parents come up to me. I did none of that AP stuff, no BF, no co-sleep, no baby wearing. She also is extremely healthy and very smart.

I wish that parents that encourage thier kids to be super competitive at sports would take a minute and think about what they are teaching thier kids. My dd(14), who is not athletic AT ALL, got hit in the hand with a hockey stick (intentionally) by some competitive kid in gym class because she wasn't good. Of course the teacher didn't see what happened and the kid said it was accidental. DD ended up in the ER with a broken thumb. You don't see my artistic dd hurting people because they can't draw, paint or write poetry as good as she can.

You know for mothers day we're going to see tons of shit on FB about how moms are psyciatrists and nurses and teachers and plumbers and the like. I hate those so much. Signed Mom of Two
