lootbags=landfill
I wish parents would be more responsible when it comes to putting together lootbags for their kid's birthday parties.
We have no family here, so we have no birthday parties. Which means our friends don't have to waste money on gifts. So why do we have to go every year to your kids miserable party and bring a gift? she has more toys than anyone I've ever seen. BRAT.
What I remember about Christmas was that it was depressing. We never had a tree, no gifts, no stocking, no decorations, no cookies. We were Christian but my parents didn't believe the should go out of their way to make the holiday special. No birthday parties either. I guess that's why I go over the top with my kids.
I'm getting ready to head to a toddler's birthday party, and I would rather be doing just about anything else. I'm really looking forward to the days when the kids are older and adults are no longer expected to attend kids' birthday parties. Who really thinks it's fun to attend a birthday party for a child?
I really do not like "themed" birthday parties. My kids have never had a theme: just color balloons, a nice colorful and yummy cake, pinata, etc. It's THEIR party, not tinkerbell's, ariel's buzz lightyear's, or anybody elses.
Just figured out why my 70yr old mother HATES her only neice (32). It is because my mom is jealous. Jealous that N got to go to parks, zoos, have birthday parties, etc. as a child. Jealous that as a teen N had her clothes/etc. & some of her education paid. Jealous that N got $ help with her wedding, house, furniture. Jealous that N travels & enjoys her life. The difference between mom & me is that I am not jealous of my cousin. Nor am I bitter that I didn't get ANY of those things from my parents despite their having more $ than my aunt/uncle. :/
I truly hate little kid birthday parties, the ones where the kids are too little to just drop off. Hello ruined Saturday!!!!
Dear friends & family, you know I love you all, really I do. But could you pls stop having your kids' birthday parties 45 mins to an hour+ away each way (esp when you don't even live that far away!) & expecting me to drop everything so I can bring my 2 yo DS? You know I'm a single, full time working mom who is also writing a book. I'm already spread too thin, so when I tell you that pls bypass the guilt trips. That's all. Thanks.
We are over babies! My DH and I went to two birthday parties on the weekend with DD. There were quite a few people with little babies and we were just happy that we are done and DD is over 2! Thank God we both feel the same way!
