Confessions for Showing 1 - 10 of 83
When DH and I were married in 2007, we had 50 guests, two attendants each, and spent less than $7k on the wedding. Most of the money went to food and a photographer. I did my own invitations (graduated from art school, so I had a design background). Everything I could do to cut costs, I did. In our state, the average wedding is $25k. Our wedding didn't cost much, but it was not "cheap." Just because you save money doesn't mean it has to look like a dollar store wedding.
It took us a whole 2 weeks to plan our wedding. We were damn near penniless, so we couldn't have a big flashy wedding. But you know what? I am glad! Our wedding was very low-budget, but while it was all happening, the only thing I was thinking was how happy I was that I had just married the man of my dreams. I didn't think of the decorations, not the food, not the guests, not the cake...hell, not even the dress! It was just me and my husband, and it was the best day of my life. :)
I did survive the bridal shower. About 18 people out of 48 invites show up so I had plenty of food and beverages. I was exhausted just from shear stress and had a migraine the next day. I hope the bride felt loved. I'm kind of upset at BIL's family for not showing up to his bride's party.
Wedding is over! Ceremony went fine, everyone looked beautiful, I stepped and stumbled on my dress with both my now husband and father during our dances, but that was ok! We still looked pretty good! Great food, good time. Whew! Glad it is over though.
I attended a wedding where the groom came by to say his hellos to us guests. We told him the food was delicious and he said we shouldn't waste it as it cost him "x" amount. I wish we didn't buy him and his bride such nice gifts.
I met his extended family over the weekend. Things went great until his aunt asked me what type of food I like to cook the most. I explained that I dont really like to cook, but I have other interests, she asked me if I was lazy,I asked her where she went to college, she said she quit school at age 14,I asked her if she is stupid. Fiance grabbed me by my arm, led me outside, and demanded I apologize to her. I didint apologize or go back in, I had my sister pick me up.I don't think I am going to go thru with the wedding.
At a friend's wedding I stepped on a flower girl while dancing. I apologized and asked if she was okay. She shouted no in my face and ran away saying I stomped on her on purpose. Her parents were at the table next to us and they kept saying things as this girl screamed I broke her foot and then proceeded to run around to get food and treats. I felt awkward because I wanted to kick this little girl.
Ladies, please don't send out invitations 6 weeks in advance, then expect your elderly relatives on fixed incomes to be able to pay $800 for a plane ticket to fly the 3 thousand miles to your wedding. If you truly want your grandparents to come to your wedding, pay for their tickets and lodging. The $2,000 they will have to pay might be 6 months of food or medicine. Thank you.
