DD had her first public tantrum this weekend...that was a hoot. Didn't know what to do at first, gave her a minute to see if she would collect herself...apparently that was too much time, as she managed to knock over a bowl of mashed potatoes, a glass of tea, and cause 1/2 of my sandwich to go MIA in the scuffle...so I took her outside so the other diners could enjoy their dinner in peace...*sighs* dinner in a restaurant, gone the way of the movies as something else I won't enjoy fully for a few more years. =)
I hate the way some channels will bleep out words like sh** and the F word, and sometimes even da**it, but leave in GD. I don't understand it...sometimes it's the best way for us as a family to watch a movie that aside from some swearing is good, and suddenly we'll get blindsided by GD.
When I start getting aggravated about being the only one doing housework, cooking, and primary care for DD, for the most part, I stop and think. I think about how tired my husband is from working 2 jobs, how he doesn't even know when he's going to plan Sunday's adult sunday school lesson, and how exhausting it must be to be up and physically working from 4am till 10 at night. How when he comes home between jobs to eat, he still spends a little time playing with DD, and how he picks her up when he gets home a lays down with her, just to hold her a little. Changes my attitude, every time.
My MIL is an angel. I got really lucky. She was there for the birth of DD when my own mom wasn't. She offers advice if needed, but is not interfering at all. B/C she lives so far away (in NY state)she not only sends little things for DD, me, hubby, and hubby's girls, but she sends letters to the girls, even though DD can't read them yet. I could go on and on, and there's not even enough room to get started on my FIL...thank God I was blessed with them, and DD has them for grandparents.
Boy did I miss this site!! Did well on my media freeze, though!! Gave in once last week and popped onto facebook, a friend busted me, but that was my only slip. We spent a lot of quality time together, and DH and I played some board games, just the two of us, after DD was asleep...it got kinda fun and naughty, so Yay for the media freeze!! Missed all of you here!
DH was on the phone with MIL tonight, and when she mentioned she would have to drive down from NY to meet his sister halfway to bring back her toddler to her (from staying at gramma's) just 4 days after we get up there, he said "oh, barb can go with you and keep you company". Great. I LOVE my MIL, so spending time with her isn't the issue. The issue is taking another 8 hour road trip just a few days after we take a 14 hour trip to get up there. She won't mind if I don't go, but now, how can I not??? She needs the company. I just wanted to slap him in the back of the head.
My 12 year old SD came over yesterday with food her mom had bought her before she came (chickfila sandwich, fruit cup, big pretzel). 18 month old DD kept hanging around her, hoping for a bite (she had eaten, she just is in a stage where she likes to snack with people). I asked her to share, and she got petulant and said "It's my food!" So I said fine, and let it go. 20 minutes later, I go to the trash and find almost the whole fruit cup and HALF the pretzel in the garbage. WHAT THE CRAP!??!???! Not only was it a waste...she couldn't share it, but she could throw it out??!!??
Holy crap, the biggest toy purchase regret I have is this stupid 150 piece play food set! Especially since all my daughter wants to do with it is dump it out and kick the pieces around laughing hysterically. I give up...not fighting her to pick it up again till bedtime.
DD (3) has a fascination with her butt. I don't know where she got it, when it started exactly, but it's there. She will think she's being cute and turn and stick it out at you...the other night, the pastor and his wife stopped by, and she turned around, lifted
her nightgown, dropped her pull up, and mooned them, looking through her legs grinning. Sure, it might seem funny, but I'm going back to work soon, she'll be in preschool...I have no idea how to stop this.
Ladies, if you know what you're looking for, thrift stores and flea markets can net you a small fortune! This year, Christmas and birthdays for 5 people, as well as some bills, was paid for by my purchasing a lot of vintage kids books for $30 from goodwill because I saw a first edition/first printing Cat in the Hat with original DJ, and selling it to a dealer for $1600. Also got a huge lot of snoopy and disney fire king mugs for $25, and sold them for $700 on ebay. It's a great idea to bring in extra money, especially for SAHMs! And check your bookshelves, you may have something valuable!
I'm taking generic hycodan, cough syrup...the only thing that helps with this godawful bronchitis I'm suffering from right now. If I take nothing, I cough all night till gagging, and cannot sleep. If I take it, it either puts me in a twilight sleep where I'm STILL not really sleeping, hypes me up, or gives me some pretty darn atrocious nightmares. I'm exhausted, and I have an exam tonight in my pharm tech class. Keep me in your thoughts, gals.
It's alright. You picked the right person to bully. I have broad shoulders, I can take it. I'd rather it be me than someone who actually gets hurt by the ugliness. I have enough support in my family and friends that what vicious people say isn't going to alter my tomorrow. It makes me sad for you, and I don't mean that sarcastically. It really makes me sad for anyone whose fun comes from trying to cause pain to another person.
