I'm not a Twilight Addict but I understand why some moms are. All moms with daughters of a certain age know about the mania that is TWILIGHT. This weekend the DVD of the second movie, New Moon comes out so Twilight is everywhere.
Some of my mom friends cringe at the whole Twilight Saga but as a mother I don't have a big problem with the Twilight craze because I think there are some positive elements to it (and I must confess, I love Vampires and am a die-hard True Blood fan myself).
My friend Michelle who is a mom and the editorial director at GLOSS, had a great point about Twilight's main character, Bella Swan:
Bella Swan is a strong young woman who is true to herself. Bella isn’t a brainless shop-a-holic teen that is the norm for most girls of a certain age in the movies. The message of the movie is that the strength of love can, over time, overcome any obstacle. As a mother, that is a message that kids need to hear more of!
At the end of the day, the Twilight movies and books are about true love. The story features teens but the basic concept is a love story. And I know I'm a sucker for a good love story.
