On any given day I overload my kids with nutritional facts (and I confess, scare tactics) to help them make better choices when they are out in the world. Consistently, my mantra is to choose water over the syrupy liquids they’d prefer, warning them of the shocking amount of sugar in seemingly innocent drinks – lemonade, 51 grams; slushies, 64 grams; coke, a whopping 80!
Sadly, it’s become more of a “do as I say, not as I do” scenario in my family because I must confess that I’m not walking the walk, nor dare I say, drinking the drink. I don’t know when it happened, but I fell off the water wagon and I fell hard. I’m no longer guzzling my daily 64 ounces (or even half that) but instead sneaking sips of the sodium and chemical-laden beverages I urge my kids to avoid at all costs. (screeching at them, “that will suck the sodium from your bones!)
But with a big birthday celebrated yesterday (FORTY SIX – oh my) and back to school around the corner – both opportunities to wipe the slate clean and start anew – I’m going to change my dehydrated ways. The nice folks at Crystal Light asked if I would take their latest challenge and I said a resounding YES! sign me up!
Will you ladies join me? No doubt, it’s always easier to do something when you have friends doing it with you. And in case you need a little convincing – here are a few good things we’re in for:
- flushing toxins from our bodies
- boosting our immune system (please swine flu, stay away!)
- thinking a little clearer
You don’t have to make promises you don’t think you’ll keep – just leave a comment on this post about how you are going to TRY YOUR BEST to get more hydrated and how you might go about doing it and here’s the kicker: you’ll be entered to win a $500 gift card. Seriously, drink some water (tell us about it here – don’t forget to leave your email address!) and you’ll have a shot at winning a nice chunk of change. It’s that simple.
*Happy to report that this contest is being sponsored by Crystal Light. Also happy to report that I personally love the stuff and with their new little packets sprinkled in my water bottle, I’m determined to become the healthier and much more hydrated girl I was in my youth!
