Truu Friend and author Jen Singer has written a new must read book, Stop Second-Guessing Yourself--The Toddler Years: A Field-Tested Guide to Confident Parenting. Jen's a fantastic writer but it's her first hand experience that makes this a great guide (and yes, a cautionary tale too) for those hanging out with the under 36" tall set. I'm long gone from the toddler years - but the book reminded me of the joys (and oh the headaches!) during those blurry days/months/years when i felt like a bodyguard having to keep a very close eye on a gaggle of unwieldy bipeds who managed to encounter anything dangerous at every turn. Jen shares a toddler confession --
“I let my 2 ½ year old shove his fingers into each and every cupcake put at eye level at a crowded Halloween party, because I was too busy attempting to change my one-year-old’s diaper – which was trapped in a dragon costume without snaps -- on the (dirty) bathroom floor 10 feet away. I figured that whoever placed the tray of cupcakes within reach of any toddler, let alone a moderately unattended one dressed like Bob the Builder, had it coming.”
